In 2022, Rainbow Six Siege introduced a new ranked system called Ranked 2.0 as part of Operation Solar Raid. This updated system aims to create a more competitive environment for players, making it more challenging to achieve the prestigious Champion rank compared to the previous ranking system.

It aims to address frequently asked questions such as the various ranks available, the minimum level requirement for playing Ranked mode, tips for accelerating your progress to reach higher ranks, and additional relevant information.

How Does Ranked 2.0 Work in Rainbow Six?

The latest update to Rainbow Six Siege, known as Ranked 2.0, introduces a significant change to the ranking system. This update separates the Skill (MMR) and the visible rank of players. Instead of solely relying on MMR, the main source of progression will now be Ranked Points (RP). It is important to note that MMR will continue to play a role in matchmaking and will be used to calculate the amount of RP that players will gain or lose

In Rainbow Six Siege, if there is a significant difference between your skill level and your visible rank, you will receive a higher number of Rank Points (around 70-80) when you win a match. On the other hand, if your MMR (Matchmaking Rating) and visible rank are very similar, you will earn fewer RP when you win and lose more RP when you experience a defeat. This change has made the Ranked mode in Rainbow Six Siege even more competitive than it was before.

In addition, when Platinum players face off against Copper players and lose, their Skill rating will be significantly lowered while the Copper players’ skill will see a significant boost. However, if Platinum players lose to Diamond, Emerald, or Champion players, their Skill rating will not be greatly affected.

When can you start playing Rainbow Six Siege ranked?

In Rainbow Six Siege, you will gain access to ranked play once you reach level 50. Before reaching this level, you will need to participate in quick matches or newcomer queues. Once you have reached the ranked mode, the matches will follow a “first-to-four” rounds format, which allows for a more extended gameplay experience.

In case the scores are tied at 3-3 at the end of regulation, a three-round overtime will be played to determine the winner. Additionally, you have the opportunity to choose the map you want to play on due to the map ban feature. Furthermore, you can strategically eliminate powerful operators from the game through attacker and defender bans.

Matchmaking in Ranked 2.0

In Rainbow Six Siege, players are paired up based on their individual skill levels. Your team will typically be matched against an opposing squad with a similar skill rating, regardless of their rank. For example, even if you’re in the Bronze rank, you may still face off against a Gold-ranked team if your skill levels are comparable.

Seasonal ranked rewards in Rainbow Six Siege

After each season concludes, players will be rewarded with various items based on the highest rank they achieved. These rewards include charms, alpha packs, and card backgrounds.

The charms all have a similar design, showcasing the Six logo, but with unique variations that reflect the current season’s theme.

Currently, Ubisoft does not have any intentions of introducing additional rewards for ranked play, but any updates or changes will be communicated to the players.

What are the Ranks in Rainbow Six Siege?

Rainbow Six Siege has a ranking system that consists of eight tiers. Previously, there were only seven tiers, but the addition of Emerald created a new tier. Among the ranks, seven of them are divided into five levels each, except for the Champion rank which does not have levels.

The lowest rank is Copper V, where players have a range of 1-100 points. On the other hand, the highest rank is Champion, which requires approximately 5000 points to achieve. By winning games and eliminating enemies, players earn Rank Points that allow them to progress up the ranking ladder.

How to rank up quickly in Rainbow Six Siege

Entering the world of ranked Rainbow Six Siege can be quite intimidating. The game is known for its complexity, and when the stakes are high, it requires a strong resolve.

Nevertheless, there are strategies you can employ to expedite your learning process and climb the ranks swiftly. With experience, you will gradually grow more at ease in this challenging environment.

1. Know the Maps

Having a strong understanding of the maps in Rainbow Six Siege is crucial for success in the game. Knowing the terrain and layout of each map allows players to strategically plan their attacks, identify flanking routes, and find optimal defensive positions.

Currently, there are 24 maps available in the game, and regularly playing on each map can greatly improve your knowledge and mastery of them. It’s also important to stay updated as new maps are constantly being added to the game.

2. Keep Communicating with your Teammates

When it comes to ranked gameplay in Rainbow Six Siege, it’s important to remember that it’s not all about individual performance. The success of your squad as a whole matters greatly.

It’s not advisable to try and take on numerous enemies by yourself, as it’s highly unlikely that you’ll be able to carry your team to victory alone, unless you’ve been placed in a significantly lower rank.

In Rainbow Six Siege, it is crucial to have effective communication with your team in order to make quick and coordinated decisions. It is important to not only follow your teammates’ instructions, but also provide them with information in any way you can.

One way to do this is by using cameras to spot enemies and then sharing their location with your teammates.

3. Play with a Squad

Having familiar faces around you is always advantageous! To climb the ranks more effectively in Rainbow Six Siege, it is advisable to create a consistent squad to play with on a daily basis.

By having a well-coordinated team, your chances of winning matches in Rainbow Six Siege will increase significantly. Each player will have a clear understanding of their role, and communication will improve as you become familiar with each other’s voices.

Additionally, playing with reliable teammates is preferable as it eliminates the risk of encountering trolls, griefers, or underperforming teammates when playing solo.

To put it simply, expand your list of friends by adding players whom you enjoyed playing with. This way, you will always have the option to invite one or two reliable players to your lobby when you plan on grinding through competitive matches in Rainbow Six Siege ranks.

4. Analyze and Improve Your Gameplay

No player in Rainbow Six Siege can be flawless, including professional players. Each player has their own weaknesses, and these weaknesses can give the enemy team an advantage. That’s why it is extremely important to analyze your gameplay after each match and continue to improve yourself.

The Match Replay feature is a valuable addition to Rainbow Six Siege that can greatly benefit players. By utilizing this feature, players have the opportunity to improve their weaker areas, identify failing strategies, and enhance their decision-making skills.

Reviewing your own gameplay footage can provide surprising insights that may not have been apparent during the intensity of a live game. Unlike during a game, where players are under stress and juggling multiple tasks, reviewing a demo in a calm and focused environment allows for a thorough analysis of every action taken.
