Metroid Fusion, developed by Nintendo, is an exceptional game for the Game Boy Advance and marks the triumphant return of the beloved Metroid series.
Released in 2002 alongside Metroid Prime, this game is a 2D side-scrolling action platformer that closely follows the style of previous entries in the series, particularly the iconic Super Metroid from 1994.
Metroid Fusion serves as a sequel to the events of Super Metroid and sets the stage for the storyline in the recently released Metroid Dread.
Notably, this game and Metroid: Zero Mission on the Game Boy Advance are the last titles in the series to be directed by Yoshio Sakamoto, the mastermind behind Super Metroid, before he transitioned to a producing role for future Metroid games.

Metroid Fusion Gameplay
After the events of Super Metroid and the presumed demise of the last remaining Metroid, the Galactic Federation sends bounty hunter Samus Aran to SR388, the homeworld of the Metroids. Upon arrival, Samus and the research team are unexpectedly attacked by a mysterious parasitic organism known as the X parasite.
This deadly organism has the ability to assimilate and corrupt the DNA of its host, using it in unusual and distorted ways. Fortunately, Samus’ suit provides some protection and saves her life, but her central nervous system is severely damaged, resulting in the removal of certain parts of her suit.
When Samus regains consciousness on the BSL research site above SR388, she discovers that an explosion has taken place and the entire staff is missing. Determined to uncover the truth, Samus embarks on another mission to unravel the mysteries happening aboard the station.
Metroid Fusion is a 2D side-scrolling action platformer, just like other games in the Metroid series. At the beginning of the game, Samus has limited abilities and can only access certain parts of the map.
However, as she explores and defeats enemies, she gains new abilities that allow her to unlock more areas for exploration. What sets Fusion apart from other games in the series is its focus on horror elements.
Samus frequently has to hide or run from the SA-X parasite, which controls her Power Suit and resembles the Terminator. Before confronting SA-X, Samus must investigate different sectors of the BSL station and defeat bosses to obtain suit upgrades.
Metroid Fusion Main Characters
Metroid Fusion revolves around the renowned protagonist, Samus Aran, who is a legendary bounty hunter. In this game, Samus receives regular check-ins and updates from an off-screen ally who is connected to the BSL station.
Unlike previous Metroid games that emphasized solitary gameplay with minimal supporting characters, Metroid Fusion breaks the mold by introducing significant players to the storyline. Some of the main characters in Metroid Fusion are:
- Samus Aran: After Samus’ parents are murdered by the notorious Space Pirate leader Ridley, she is adopted by the secluded Chozo. With the help of the Chozo, Samus acquires a powerful Power Suit created with their advanced technology, transforming her into a formidable force for justice in the universe.
- Adam Malkovich: Adam, who used to be Samus’ superior, plays a crucial role in Metroid Fusion as he becomes her only connection to the outside world while she is trapped on the BSL station.
- SA-X: Metroid Fusion features a recurring antagonist known as the SA-X. This formidable enemy is actually a renegade X parasite that takes on the form of Samus by absorbing her DNA.
- Ridley: Ridley, the formidable leader of the Space Pirates and second-in-command to Mother Brain, serves as Samus’ ultimate adversary in Metroid Fusion.

Metroid Fusion Secrets/Glitches
Speed Boost Jump
Once players acquire the Speed Booster in Metroid Fusion, they can perform a powerful move known as the Speed Boost Jump. This move is similar to the Wall Jump, as it allows Samus to rebound off surfaces.
To execute the Speed Boost Jump, players need to run until the Speed Booster activates. Then, they should swiftly press the Down button on the D-Pad. Finally, pressing the jump button will propel Samus forward, enabling her to obliterate floors and walls she encounters along the way.
Hyper Screw Attack
Once Samus acquires both the Speed Booster and Screw Attack upgrades, she gains access to a more powerful version of the Screw Attack. By running and activating the Speed Boost, she can then execute a Screw Attack without halting her momentum.
This allows her to maintain hyper mode even while in mid-air. By combining the Screw Attack with the Space Jump and continuously moving without stopping, Samus can remain in hyper mode until she either encounters a solid obstacle or ceases her movement.
This technique is particularly advantageous for breaking boost blocks that are surrounded by limited running space.
Secret Message
If players manage to defeat Nightmare in Sector 5 but do not collect the Diffusion Missile upgrade before returning to a Navigation Room, they will be rewarded with a hidden conversation involving Samus, Adam, and an unidentified character. These hidden interactions can be considered as Metroid Fusion cheats.
Easily Kill Gold Space Pirates
In Metroid Fusion, players usually have to shoot the Gold Space Pirates in the back to cause any harm. However, there’s a handy trick that can be used to defeat them effortlessly.
By shooting at the Space Pirates from the front and then quickly turning Samus in the opposite direction, the Space Pirate will imitate Samus’s movements, resulting in the shot hitting them in the back without having to approach them from behind. These Metroid Fusion cheats can be quite useful in dealing with the Gold Space Pirates.
Wall Jump
Players can make use of the Wall Jump technique from Super Metroid in order to reach platforms more easily before obtaining the Space Jump ability in Metroid Fusion.
To perform the Wall Jump, simply spin jump towards a wall and immediately press the D-pad in the opposite direction as soon as Samus comes into contact with the wall.
This will allow Samus to touch the wall and launch herself off it, allowing for another jump and increased mobility.
